Our Mentor - Dr. Steven Jay
Dr. Jay is a professor in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests lie in the fields of drug delivery and protein/tissue engineering.
Sumon Bhattacharyya
Sumon (Mentor Liaison) is a Biological Sciences major from Bethesda, Maryland. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time at McKeldin mall and listening to music.
Allison Chen
Allison (Website Developer) is a Neurobiology & Physiology and Government & Politics double major from Potomac, Maryland. At school, she plays on the Club Field Hockey team, and is a member of the Taiwanese American Student Association and Public Health without Borders. In her free time, she enjoys playing violin, coaching high school field hockey, and tutoring.
Stephanie Chill
Stephanie (Team Liaison) is a Chemical Engineering major from Olney, Maryland. When she isn't studying, Stephanie serves as a member of the Gemstone Student Council and is involved with Engineers Without Borders and Terps Racing Baja. During the summer, Stephanie interns at the National Institutes of Health, but she makes sure to spend time chilling, traveling, and enjoying life!
Madelyn Golding
Maddie (Team Liaison) is a Bioengineering major with a minor in Engineering Leadership Development from Olney, Maryland. She works in the Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials Laboratory on campus, and is a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, watching TV shows, and occasionally going into DC. After graduation, she plans on working in the industry and pursuing a graduate degree in bioengineering.
Danielle Lee
Danielle is a Microbiology major with a minor in Innovations & Entrepreneurship Business from Gaithersburg, Maryland. She enjoys her involvement in Sigma Psi Zeta, a multicultural sorority. In her spare time, she likes to try different foods, sleep in, and watch TV shows. She also likes to travel and hopes that she'll be able to work abroad someday. Currently, she is interested in attending medical school and working in the health care system.
Thomas Mumford
Tom (Library Liaison) is a Bioengineering major from Severna Park, Maryland. His interest in researching cellular forces and interactions fuels his passion for Team MATRIX. He also pursues cellular research through his work in the Optics Biotech Lab on campus. In his spare time, Tom enjoys running and playing bass guitar.
Alex Pu
Alex (Team Ombudsperson) is a pre-med Bioengineering major from Potomac, Maryland. He is a member of Tzu-Ching at UMD. In his spare time, he enjoys playing cello and doing community service.
Mary Robichaux
Mary (Team Clerk) is a Neurobiology & Physiology major from Houma, Louisiana. She volunteers with the American Red Cross Club on campus and plans on pursuing a career in medicine.
Kayla Sukri
Kayla (Financial Liaison) is a Finance and Information Systems double major from Gaithersburg, Maryland. She is a member of the QUEST Honors Program, volunteers at the help center on campus, and serves as a mentor with the Smith Leadership Institute. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, online shopping, and long walks on the beach.
Jay Swayambunathan
Jay (Website Developer) is an Applied Mathematics major from Columbia, Maryland. In his free time, he tutors local high school students as a member of Terps Mentoring, and plans on pursuing a career in medical research.
Kellen Weigand
Kellen is a Bioengineering major from Dallas, Texas. Having danced for nine years, Kellen enjoys taking Hip-Hop and Contemporary classes on campus as well as being a performing member of Ballet Company M, the University of Maryland's student ballet company. Kellen is also the Chair of Public Relations for Sex Week at Maryland and a member of one of UMD's peer education groups, SHARE. In her Engineering 100 class during her first semester at UMD, Kellen led her Over Sand Vehicle team to a 1st place victory over a dozen other teams of engineering students. Kellen loves to be able to combine creativity and art with her passion for science and math, and sends lots of love to her always-supportive Mom, Dad, and dog, Sadie, back home.
